Seaman 2nd class Russell Orville Ufford

 

On Monday the Navy officially rendered honors to Kansas City native, Seaman 2nd class Russell Orville Ufford.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After nearly 80 years a Kansas City Navy sailor who died at Pearl Harbor has been laid to rest.

On Monday, the Navy officially rendered honors to Kansas City native, Seaman 2nd class Russell Orville Ufford. He was killed in action aboard the USS Oklahoma on December 7, 1941.

In February his remains were officially identified and flow back home.

His only remaining relative an 84-year-old nephew in North Carolina was on hand for the burial.

Ufford was just 17 years old when he died aboard the ship.
