Need more Veterans to serve in Congress

10 Feb 2015 01:42 #209 by pkcuff
But we don't need any more John McCains. His voting record on veteran's benefits is worse than awful. He is the most pro-war, anti-veteran Senator ever elected by any state ever. But other than him, I agree on the military service requirement for anybody that is going to vote on veteran's affairs. Wholeheartedly agree.

We are in agreement on that score.

We need more veterans/retirees to serve in elected office. 30-40 years ago it was over 95% that had military service. Today it is under 8 % and falling. Maybe some of our Commander-and-Chiefs wouldn't LOATH us if they had a little military experience themselves.

Personally, I think all elected officials should have 3-4 years of either military or public service experience before being allowed to run for any elective office.
